Discarded Chiefs defender faces uncertain international future

Ugandan defender Godfrey Walusimbi is confident of finding a new club soon following his departure from Kaizer Chiefs.

The Cranes defender was released by Chiefs during the January transfer period, just six months into his three-year contract with Amakhosi.

With the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt drawing nigh, Walusimbi’s position as Cranes left-back is uncertain.

Walusimbi said he had alerted his national team coach Sebastien Desabre about his situation.

“I have spoken to the coach about my situation, and he is aware that I and my management team are doing everything in our power to see that I return to active football at the soonest,” Walusimbi told Uganda’s The Observer.

With the January transfer window closed, it is believed that Walusimbi may end up in one of the Scandinavian Leagues since the transfer windows there are still open.
