Eagles aiming to surprise Stars

National First Division side Super Eagles coach Antonio Jesus Flores is looking at surprising Free State Stars when the teams battle it out in the last 32 round of the Nedbank Cup.

Eagles and Stars use Bethlehem’s Goble Park as their home ground for their respective league matches and this fixture will feel like a ‘home’ tie for both teams.

“I am confident we will compete, if I don’t have that confidence then it’s wrong,” said the Spaniard.

“It’s interesting because we play in the same city and use the same ground. It’s like a friendly game because we know each other very well. But we want to compete, we want to try and deliver a surprise.”

Since taking over the club last year in November, the Spaniard says he is happy with what he sees but says it has been difficult to try and get the players to adapt to his philosophy.

“I am happy with them (the players). In all the games so far, whether we win, we lose or we draw, we fight well and we have chances. The football is there, that is the most important thing,” he said.

“It is not easy when you try to bring another philosophy, in my instance from Spain, where you try to keep the ball and so on. You also have to adapt to the kind of players you have, so it is a process.”
