Ekstein happy with his new role at Chiefs

The skilful forward got a starting berth when coach Giovanni Solinas made eight changes to his starting line-up for the Free State Stars game on Tuesday night.


Hendrick Ekstein took to the field as a winger instead of his usual central midfield role when Amakhosi beat Ea Lla Koto 2-0 on Tuesday night.

Pule, as the player is affectionately known in football circle got the assist for the second goal of the match that was scored by Philani Zulu.

“I am enjoying myself, it comes from the support that the teammates are giving me,” Ekstein told reporters.

“As an attacker you play everywhere, you play in any position the coach puts you in.”

Ekstein has highlighted areas of his game that need improvement moving into Chiefs’ next match against AmaZulu on Saturday.

“I still have to work harder to deliver for the team, I need to assist and score more goals to help the team.

“I am happy with the competition in the team, you don’t relax as a player and you need to work hard.”
