Ex-Chiefs striker joins Stars for trial

Former Kaizer Chiefs striker Michell Katsvairo will reportedly undergo a trial at Free State Stars.

According to IOL, Katsvairo is set to start training with the Bethlehem outfit on this (Friday) morning.

Stars general manager Rantsi Mokoena confirmed to IOL that they have invited the striker to train with coach Nikola Kavazovic’s squad.

“Yes, it is true. He is with us. We will assess him for a few days and then make a decision. We need a striker that will get us goals, if you look at the number of chances that we are creating. There’s another striker from Uganda who is with us. It’s just that I’ve forgotten his name,” said Mokoena.

Katsvairo is a free agent after leaving Zimbabwean outfit Caps united, whom he had joined at the beginning of the season.

The 28-year-old forward first came to South Africa to join Chiefs in 2016, but he failed to make an impact at Amakhosi. He was released by Chiefs in January last year.
