Ex-footballers won’t take over office soon – Modise
Banyana Banyana legend Portia Modise says she does not see former footballers taking over administrative roles in football associations any time soon.

Modise told reporters that the football industry is infiltrated by politicians, and as such, former footballers stand very little chance of holding key positions in football administration.
“I don’t see the chance of us ex-footballers taking over because politicians are taking over everywhere,” said Modise at the SAB League coaching skills camp held at the University of Pretoria on Wednesday.
Former Bafana Bafana and Leeds United captain Lucas Radebe wants to contest incumbent Safa president Danny Jordan in the upcoming elections in March – although the jury is still out on Radebe’s eligibility to stand for elections. Modise feels if a former football was at the helm of the association, it would be “run a lot better”.
“Other countries do have ex-players running football associations and they are doing a lot better because they know the game,” said Modise, who scored over 100 goals for the senior ladies’ national team.
“They (former footballers) have the playing experience and they know the energy that players put in football and they will know what is needed to be put in football,” she added.
“They will know how to behave in certain circumstances because they have been there as players,” Modise concluded.
