Gavin Hunting for maximum points in title run-in

Gavin Hunt is targeting a total of 18 points in Bidvest Wits’ quest for a second Absa Premiership title in three seasons.

The Students are two points behind log leaders and defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns, but have played a game more than Masandawana.

Hunt says if they are to stand a great chance to outsprint the Brazilians, they will need to win all of their remaining games.

“We have to win almost every game now. We have six games left now. At some point we were five points clear and then we had this run of four games where we have never won a game,” said Hunt, who added that his side needs to do away with the tendency of dominating games but conceding easy goals need to come to an end.

Hunt has won the Absa Premiership title four times, he knows how to maneuver his way around this final and crucial stage of the season. However, when asked about how he sees his side’s chances of claiming the title, he said that is the last thing on his mind.

“I don’t ever think about that, we just try to think about the next game and the next game is a cup game for us,” Hunt said, as his side lies in wait of third-place Orlando Pirates, who they host in Braamfontein after the international break.
