I was depressed at Sundowns – Lebese

He is, however, delighted with his loan deal to United from Sundowns on the last day of the transfer window.

SuperSport United midfielder George Lebese admits to being depressed while he was at Mamelodi Sundowns due to lack of game time.

The former Bafana Bafana midfielder joined Sundowns from Kaizer Chiefs with great expectation at the beginning of last season, however, Lebese struggled for game time and asked to leave on loan.

Lebese said he planned to focus fully on making his mark at SuperSport United in the next six months. The midfielder said he was excited when he found out there was interest in him from United and hoped they came to sign him. Lebese doesn’t expect to get a starting berth straight away and he said he was ready to work to convince the coach to give him a chance.

“Things didn’t work out for me at Sundowns and, to be honest, I have no idea what happened. I have been depressed for many months… and I am just happy to get this opportunity. It was very difficult for me to wake up every morning and go to training with no one to talk to. It was just training and go home, and I didn’t know what to work on‚” Lebese was quoted by TimesLIVE.
