Lentjies responds to criticism against him for Khune injury
Chippa United forward Kurt Lentjies is upset that his injury is seen as less important than those of Itumeleng Khune because of the goal minder's status in football.

Lentjies, who is recovering from a dislocated shoulder and mild concussion, collided with the Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper during the Telkom Knockout clash at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Sunday.

With Khune unlikely to feature for Bafana Bafana in Friday’s crucial World Cup qualifier against Senegal because of the injury he suffered during the collision, fans have taken to social media to vent their anger on Lentjies, with some even blaming him for the collision.
Lentjies has not taken kindly to the criticism labelled against him.

“The incident was just unfortunate. I wish Khune a speedy recovery, but does anyone care about what happened to me?
“I am here with concussion and a dislocated shoulder. But that is not as important because I am not Mzansi’s No 1,” Lentjies told The New Age.

“Am I even a dirty player? Look at my career. I have always been an honest player and I would never go out to intentionally injure another player.

“But what is happening (the hostile social media) does not bother me. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions. I am just surprised that no one even asks if I am fine or not.”
