Maritzburg coach asks nation to pray for Ntshangase

Maritzburg United coach Fadlu Davids has asked the football fraternity to seek divine intervention for young Luyanda Ntshangase who is in ICU.

The 21-year-old was struck by lightning during a training session last week.

“We are asking the whole football fraternity to please pray for him so that he can make a fully recovery,” said Davids.

Maritzburg are fourth on the Absa Premiership standings behind the country’s three elite sides in leaders Mamelodi Sundowns, Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs.

The Team of Choice have so far collected 35 points going into their final seven games. Davids believes eight more points will be enough to guarantee the Pietermaritzburg-based side a top eight finish.

“Anything can happen in this league, you can lose the last games all in a row and that can happen. Our main focus now is to get to 40 points, and 43 points will be enough to secure the top eight finish,” Davids said.

“But as quick as possible in our last games remaining, get to 40 point mark and then we can reassess and see how many games are left,” he added.
