Maritzburg keen on out-of-favour Chiefs winger

Maritzburg United have confirmed their interest in signing Kaizer Chiefs winger William Twala.

The Team of Choice want to sign Twala on loan for the remainder of the season.

“I spoke to Chiefs regarding Twala’s services two weeks ago. We are looking for at least a loan deal, but they have yet to get back to me,” Maritzburg chairman Farook Kadodia told Daily Sun.

“I’m hopeful, though, that they will get back to me and that we will have him before the transfer window closes,” he added.

After playing regularly and being one of the fan favourites last season, Twala has struggled for game time at Chiefs this season, appearing just six times for Amakhosi so far under coach Steve Komphela.

Chiefs are said to have tried to sell him to Free State Stars in a move that would have seen Sinethemba Jantjie join Amakhosi, but the winger rejected the move.
