Masuluke gets R100k for Puskas nomination

Puskas Awards nominee Oscarine Masuluke pocketed R100 000 at his gala dinner sendoff held at Emoyeni Royal resort in Giyani on Thursday.

The Baroka FC goalkeeper was handed R50 000 cheques each from the Giyani and Mopani municipalities.

The cheques were part of the recognition for the star keeper, whose tremendous bicycle kick goal against Orlando Pirates last season, has been nominated for the Fifa Puskas Award.

Masuluke is up against Arsenal’s Olivier Giroud and Venezuela’s Dena Castellanos for the award.

Event organisor Howard Mashaba says he has spent R700 000 organising the event.

“I’m sponsoring Oscarine, and I have also spent money from my own pocket buying suits for him to attend the Puskas Award in London.Talking about the awards, I hope that he will win it and put not only Giyani on the map, but South Africa as whole,” commented Mashaba.

Some of the artists who are attending the event include Penny Penny and Thomas Chauke and will be MCed by the Muvhango crew.
