Mahlasela set to snub Pirates and join Chiefs

Kaizer Chiefs will try to convince Bloemfontein Celtic to release Kabelo Mahlasela in January as the player will sign a pre-contract with Amakhosi in that month.

Mahlasela has already made it clear to the Celtic management that he will not be extending his stay at the club.

“Mahlasela has his sights set on Chiefs now and he has told his close friends he will be joining them next year. What I like about him is that he remains committed to his work at Celtic and gives his best even though he knows he might be leaving in January,” said a source close to the player.

Mahlasela’s contract expires in June 2018 but he will be eligible to speak to a team of his choice in January.

He was previously said to be on his way to Orlando Pirates but sources close to him advised him against the move as there are too many players similar to him at the Buccaneers.
