Chiefs join race for Zwane’s signature

Kaizer Chiefs have become the latest team to show interest in Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Themba Zwane.

Zwane’s deal with Sundowns is set to expire at the end of this season, and he is currently locked in negotiations for a contract extension with the club.

As reported by Phakaathi earlier, SuperSport United and Orlando Pirates are said to be keeping a close eye on the midfielder’s situation with Sundowns.

“Themba is a very good player, and if negotiations with Sundowns don’t go well, SuperSport and Pirates are definitely going to pounce on him. They are monitoring his situation at Sundowns,” a source close to Sundowns told Phakaaathi.

Zwane, who netted nine goals in all competitions for Sundowns last season, played an instrumental role in helping the Brazilians win the Caf Champions League last year.

The 28-year-old is now a regular feature in the Bafana Bafana, and is currently with the national team preparing for Saturday’s 2018 World Cup qualifier against Burkina Faso.
