Chiefs lose interest in Luc Eymael

Phakaaathi has learnt that Kaizer Chiefs have decided to stop their pursuit of Free State Stars coach Luc Eymael.

According to a source close to Chiefs, Eymael’s recent outbursts in the media have not gone well with Amakhosi, and they have decided to look somewhere else for a coach.

“They [Chiefs] don’t want anything or in this case anyone to compromise the club brand,” said the source.

“Steve Komphela and Stuart Baxter conducted themselves well in the media, and Chiefs want someone who is not only going to take the club to its former glory, but someone who will conduct himself well in the media,” added Komphela.

“Another thing that is worrying the Chiefs management, is Eymael’s tendency to leave jobs whenever he feels like it. In his two years in South Africa, he has coached three teams. He left Polokwane City and joined [Bloemfontein] Celtic. He has been with [Free State] Stars for only one season, and is now contemplating another move to another team. Chiefs want stability in the coaching department,” concluded the source.

Meanwhile, as reported earlier, Eymael has given teams who are said to be after his services until next Friday to make him offers or they should forget about him.

The 58-year-old Belgian has been linked with moves to Chiefs and SuperSport United, but he has consistently said the teams had not spoken to him.
