Pirates set to recall Motupa

Orlando Pirates are reportedly set to recall Gift Motupa from Baroka during the January transfer period.

Motupa, who is on loan at Baroka, has scored five goals in 13 appearances for Bakgaga this season.

Now a source close to Pirates says the team wants him back because Bucs are currently struggling to score goals.

“Yes, it’s true that Pirates want Gift back. Gift, just like [Thamsanqa] Gabuza is strong on the ball, but unlike him, he can score goals as well. Pirates are creating a lot of chances, but nobody is converting them and Gift could be that player,” said the source.

Meanwhile, as reported on the Phakaaathi supplement this week, Pirates are set to welcome a Nigerian striker on trial in January.

Pirates coach Micho Sredojevic has previously stated he wants another burly striker to complement Thamsanqa Gabuza, and a source says he has been inundated with CVs from agents who want him to have a look at their strikers.

“There is one who the technical team felt could be a solution but they have asked that he come for a trial so they can have a good look at him,” said the source.
