Pirates striker set to join SuperSport

Thamsanqa Gabuza could be reunited with Eric Tinkler at SuperSport United if what Phakaaathi sources have been whispering is anything to go by.

A source close to the player has revealed that Gabuza has spoken to Tinkler on a few occasions and the two seem keen on working with each other again.

“Gabuza knows he has never been a fan favourite at Pirates and with Augustine Mulenga already tipped to be the team’s first choice while there are the likes of Ayanda Nkosi still waiting for a chance, Gabuza knows game time will be scarce for him. That is why he is keen on getting a move away so he can re-establish himself. And they had an understanding with Tinkler,” said the source.

Meanwhile, a source in the Pirates camp has revealed to Phakaaathi that head coach Micho Sredojevic is impressed with the club’s development structures and will be looking to introduce more young players into the senior team next season.

According to the source, players in the MDC team and SAB League Bucs teams are attracting clubs in the PSL and the NFD and the coach doesn’t want to lose any of the club’s development talent.

“There are quite a number of players who might not be with the club soon because teams out there are looking at them and are interested in signing them. So these youngsters will end up being lost to other teams. That is why the coach wants to act quickly by making sure he promotes some of them. He is very impressed with the players and always keeps tabs on their progress,” said the source.
