Sundowns look set to offload some players

Masandawana will not be renewing contracts of certain players.

Phakaaathi has been led to believe that Mamelodi Sundowns are set to make announcements as far their personnel is concerned.

This website has it on good authority that Masandawana will not be renewing contracts of certain players, while some are set to go out on loan.

Sundowns have got a few players whose deals are set to expire at the end of the season and the club has made it clear that they will not renew.

Some of these players, as Mgosi Squad understands, are looking to sign pre-contracts elsewhere, while some want out immediately.

“When there is a new guy in charge (Rulani Mokwena is fairly new as solo head coach) things are going to change because he wants to show his authority and make his own imprint on the team,” a source revealed.

Possible departures

Sundowns have got a number of quality players in their arsenal, but as you would know, only a few can participate at a time and this has led to some level of frustration to those who are reduced to spectators. Phakaaathi has been tipped that some of these players might look for greener pastures elsewhere.

Bradley Ralani

The skilful attacking wizard has an option to renew his contract for a year but the club has not indicated whether or not they will let go of the former Cape Town City star at the end of the season. Ralani has not seen much game time, with the likes of Themba Zwane, Gaston Sirino, Neo Maema, Haashim Domingo and Marcelo Allende being preferred ahead of the 35-year-old.

Andile Jali

Perhaps the headline maker of this transfer market. Jali’s future is hanging in the balance with Sundowns having not tabled an offer for the ex-Orlando Pirates star. Jali’s deal expires in June, and now, he can sign a pre-contract with a club of his choice if Downs don’t make their intentions clear about him.

Lesedi Kapinga

The witty midfielder has not had much joy at the club this season as he would have liked. Kapinga played has five league games this season, and word has it that Mokwena might consider sending him out on loan.

Gift Motupa

As to how Sundowns managed to hold on to Motupa for this long is something only the technical team can address. Based on historical evidence, Motupa is a seasoned striker and has a couple of goals in him. However, on face value, he has not been able to hit form at Downs and perhaps he is among those who might get the chop.
