Wits and Highlands to tussle for ex-SuperSport star

The Lions of the North and the Students are believed to be the front runners in the chase for the 32-year-old's signature.

Phakaaathi understands that former Mamelodi Sundowns, Kaizer Chiefs and SuperSport United winger Thuso Phala is set to remain with a top-flight team based in Gauteng, and Bidvest Wits and Highlands Park’s names have been bandied about.

Phala was released by United a few months ago and he has not been short of suitors.

However, it is the Lions of the North and the Students who are believed to be the front runners in the chase for the 32-year-old’s signature.

“Phala is desperate to stay in Gauteng because his camp believes that the only teams that can afford his high salary are based in Gauteng,” said a source.
