Mngqithi ready to step out of Pitso’s shadow

Mamelodi Sundowns assistant coach Manqoba Mngqithi says he is ready to be in charge of a team that could challenge for the Absa Premiership title.

Mnqithi made waves when he won the MTN8 title with Golden Arrows in 2009.

The former Arrows mentor has since worked as Pitso Mosimane’s assistant for the past four seasons winning the Caf Champions league and three league titles.

“When I agreed to join Sundowns, I did that for one reason, and that was to learn how to win the league title,” Mngqithi was quoted as saying by Isolezwe.

“I already knew how to win a trophy, I wanted to learn how to win the league title. I wanted to understand the pressures that comes with competing for the title.

“I still have a contract with Sundowns but I want to make is clear that when I leave here I would like to stand on my own and coach a club that is prepared to win the league title.

“I think it is time for me to show what I have learned at Sundowns.”
