The win took the Rich Boys to 11th place and three points above relegation places. Mkhulise said the win was good but they will have to supplement it with another to ensure they are safe from relegation.
But with the likes of Mthatha Bucks and Ubuntu Cape Town continuing to drop points, the Rich Boys might not have to fight hard to avoid going to the amateur ranks next season.
CT All Stars 2 (S. Abrahams; T. Mashigo) Stellenbosch 0
Igugu leKapa’s new man, Tshepo Mashigo, formerly of Swallows FC sealed the victory over fellow Cape Town rivals Stellenbosch. Shaquille Abrahams had opened the scoring iGugu leKapa who are set to change their name to Swallows FC next season. All Stars are now 6th and four points away from a play-offs position while it looks all the more difficult for Stellies now.
Jomo Cosmos 3 (S. Mkhize; C. Mulenga; T. Thlolane) Ubuntu CT 1 (D. Adonis)
Sicelo Mkhize was inspirational as Ezenkosi finally registered a win, beating embattled Ubuntu Cape Town 3-1 to get back into contention for a play-offs finish. With Duncan Adonis having put the visitors in front, Mkhize got the equaliser and set Ezenkosi on a come-back. Clifford Mulenga and Tebogo Thlolane also added their names to the score sheet and ensured the home side keep the full points and move to fourth place and are within two points of a play-offs position.
Real Kings 1 (N. Phewa) Black Leopards 2 (M. Musonda; P. Nange)
Lidoda Duvha overpowered the Magic Boys and earned the three points as they beat Simo Dladla’s side 2-1 on Sunday afternoon. Nkosingiphile Phewa scored for the home side but Mwape Musonda and Phathutshedzo Nange ensured Joel Masutha’s team collect the full points. The win sent Leopards to second spot.
Highlands Park (M. Mvala x2; M. Sekola x2; G. Msimango; B. Sam; P. Shalulile) Mbombela 1 (S. Khumalo)
Tingwenyama were turned into easy prey for the Lions of the North who were unforgiving as they thrashed them 7-1. Mothobi Mvala and Moeketsi Sekola both bagged braces while Gift Msimango, Bongani Sam and Peter Shalulile also scored. Siyanda Khumalo may have thought he had brought his side back when he equalised late in the first half to take the game to half time with the scores levelled but Owen Da Gama’s side came back more determined and scored a further six goals without reply from his side.
University of Pretoria 1 (H. Botes) Witbank Spurs 1 (K. Zwane)
Henrico Botes put the home side ahead but Khethokuhlu Zwane equalised against his former side to ensure the spoils are shared. Although they are not too far behind, these sides look to be out of contention for a play-offs position.
Mthatha Bucks 1 (M. Erasmus) Uthongathi 2 (S. Vilane x2)
Amathol’amnyama were shoved deeper into trouble as they let slip a lead to end up losing 2-1 against fellow relegation candidates the cane Cutters. Mpho Erasmus thought he had set his team up for a win when he scored first but the Cane Cutters replied through Siyabonga Vilane, who added one more to take the three points.
Tshakhuma 0 Richards Bay 1 (S. Muishond)
Stanley Muishond’s solitary goal was enough for the Rich Boys to earn an invaluable three points away to on-form Tshakhuma.
Super Eagles 1 (T. Selepe) Royal Eagles 0
Thato Selepe was the hero of the battle of the Eagles as his solitary goal was enough to seal an important win for the Bethlehem based side.
