Ngcongca feeling great after first PSL experience

Mamelodi Sundowns marquee signing Anele Ngcongca returned to action after recovering from an anterior cruciate ligament injury that sidelined him for about five months.

After spending close to a decade in Europe where he enjoyed much success with Belgium side Racing Genk, the 29-year-old marked his return from injury coming on as a substitute last week Saturday’s 6-0 beat-down of Orlando Pirates at Loftus Versfeld, and also had a runout in the midweek 1-1 draw away to Chippa United.

“I’ve been injured and out for a couple of months, it was good to be on the field with Chippa. I am still trying to adjust with some of the players, and I am getting along,” he said.

Masandawana host Caf Confederation Cup winners TP Mazembe at Loftus on Saturday evening in the Caf Super Cup face-off.

Coach Pitso Mosimane included the former Bafana Bafana international in his 18-man squad for the clash against the Congolese giants.

Ngcongca also revealed that Mosimane’s desire to succeed is the driving factor behind the team’s brilliant performances.

“We are lucky to have a coach like Pitso, he is always hungry for more. He said we need to be hungry, we need to leave a legacy here in this club. Yes we have won everything, but we need more stars. You look at Bayern Munich, they have got stars on their shirts … we still have one. We are still babies, we need more than one. We are lucky to have a coach like him who is pushing us to the limit to make sure that even today nobody knows who he is going to play, but he will tell you to be ready.”
