Pirates were held to a 0-0 draw by Matsatsantsa at the Mbombela Stadium on Wednesday night.
The outcome was bad news for the Buccaneers as they try and chase down log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns.

Sredojevic says his team tried everything possible to claim a victory against SuperSport United.
“We applied ourselves the way we agreed. Sometimes in football when you are not winning but inside us we are so happy with the face and body language of our players- they made us so proud,” Sredojevic told SuperSport TV after the game.
“They respect the jersey. They did everything possible to win especially in the second half. We tried from the right and left angles to create chances, but we couldn’t enter.
“We are proud of the effort from the players. We shall pick up this point and look forward.”
Pirates will next face AmaZulu away at the King Zwelithini Stadium on Sunday, and Sredojevic believes this game will be more open that the SuperSport game.
“We shall critically look at the things and focus on the next match on Sunday against AmaZulu, a good ball-playing team.
“The game will be much more open. They will come out like two boxers ready to attack each other. I think people will enjoy Sunday’s game,” commented Sredojevic.
