Pitso questions PSL Disciplinary Committee’s timing

Masandawana could be docked points for fielding Wayne Arendse in a league match against Bidvest Wits in a 1-1 draw last October.

Pitso Mosimane has been fined by the Premier Soccer League’s Disciplinary Committee for something he said in a Tshwane derby against SuperSport United whilst Eric Tinkler was still at the helm of Matsatsantsa.

However, the Mamelodi Sundowns mentor is not happy about the DC’s timing, questioning where they have been all along as some of these cases happened last season.

“Before the AmaZulu game on Friday night, 23h00 I was still at the league. I was at the DC for something that happened when Percy Tau was still playing football for Sundowns and Eric Tinkler was till the coach of SuperSport United,” said Mosimane.

“I don’t know what I said. I am not saying I should have said that or not, but hey, why just before the AmaZulu game? The timing is another story. Why the story of being docked points just before the Black Leopards game? Where has everybody been? Are we that busy? What is happening?”

Masandawana could be docked points for fielding Wayne Arendse in a league match against Bidvest Wits in a 1-1 draw last October. Arendse was a last minute inclusion into Downs’ line-up, and Mosimane says they got consent from Wits and the Match Commissioner.

“We asked the Match Commissioner, ‘can we do it’. I am not saying it is right and I am not saying if you ask you are still right. He signed and Wits had no problem and then now we are wrong. I don’t know if the Commissioner knows the rules or he made a mistake. I just don’t know. But I can guarantee, without knowing my facts, that it is not the first time it happens. I am not saying it is right but the Commissioner has the rule book to say if you do this you are going to get punished. Do you think we can take that risk?”
