Pitso rues Sundowns’ costly ‘mistake’

Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane claims the mistakes his side made against cost them three points against Wydad Casablanca.

This comes after the Brazilians were held to a 1-1 draw by the defending champions at the Lucas Moripe Stadium on Saturday night.

“We let them [Wydad] off the hook. One mistake at the back, it’s nearly the same mistake we committed against Maritzburg when Denis [Onyango] missed the ball and [Tebogo] Langerman lost concentration. We gave them a gift, from South Africa to Morocco,” Mosimane told SuperSport TV after the match.

“They were happy… we pushed them back, they can’t take the pressure, they have to sit back, they’re playing for a point, that’s smart.

“But the goalkeeper kills time hey. He reminds me of one of the goalkeepers in South Africa. But it’s okay, we tried to win.

“Esperance and all come here and park the bus. What can you do? But we tried. These are the champions of Africa and we put them under pressure,” added Mosimane.

Mosimane was not unhappy with his team’s overall performance in the match.

“We could have done better but I’m not unhappy with the performance of the boys, it’s mistakes, we pay a heavy [price] for our mistakes.

“These guys were never there. The only way they could score is through set-pieces, that’s all.”
