Qalinge, Mabokgwane lead player exodus at Pirates

Orlando Pirates have announced the release of Abbubaker Mobara, Jackson Mabokgwane, Ayanda Nkosi, and Thabo Qalinge.

The four players’ contracts were set to expire at the end of June and the club has decided not to renew them.

Mobara has since joined Cape Town City on a four-year contract deal.

Mabokgwane was also linked with a move to City, but the club has since described those rumours as “fake news”.

Several Absa Premiership clubs including City are said to be keen on Qalinge.

Meanwhile, Pirates has also confirmed the release of some reserve teams and lower divisions players.

“The following players have also been released:

“Reanetse Ramatlapeng, Katleho Molaba, Samuel Nkomo, Phumulani Masinga, Phila Mzila, Reanetse Ramatlapeng, Ricardo Lourenco, Riyaaz Nell, Tebogo Ngwenya, Rodi Sibanda, Lucky Mdingi and Zaahir Witbooi.

“The club would like to thank all the players for their service and wish them all of the best in their future endeavours,” read the club statement.
