Sandilands saved Pirates – Esperance

Orlando Pirates' Tuesday afternoon Caf Champions league opponents Esperance de Tunis believe goalkeeper Wayne Sandilands saved the Soweto giants from a drubbing.

Sandilands made excellent saves at the Stade Olympique de Radès Tunis in Tunisia against Espérance to keep the visitors in the game.

However Pirates ended up conceding two goals in the second half of the match that saw the Tunisians winning the game 2-0 and going on top Group B standings.

Esperance expressed their delight at beating a quality side like Pirates but reserved a special praise from the former Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper who made it difficult for the home team to convert all their chances.

“A great match for Franck Kom from Esperance and goalkeeper Wayne Sandilands who saved Orlando Pirates a real correction/a great match of Franck Kom side blood and gold and the goalkeeper Wayne Sandilands of the Pirates who saved his team from a real correction (sic),” read a tweet from Esperance.
