Struggling Spurs announce Ralani signing

Ralani was a free agent after leaving Mamelodi Sundowns at the end of last season.

Struggling Cape Town Spurs have moved to add some experience to their squad, announcing the signing on Thursday morning of former Mamelodi Sundowns and Cape Town City attacking midfielder Bradley Ralani.

Ralani was a free agent after leaving Sundowns at the end of last season. The 36 year-old could be an important addition to a Spurs squad lacking in top-flight knowhow. This has been evident in a start to the season that has seen them lost all of their eight DStv Premiership matches up to now.

The club has already fired head coach Shaun Bartlett, with Sean O’Connor coming in as interim head coach from the position of Technical Director.

Ralani spent a good part of his professional career in Scandinavia, playing for clubs in Sweden and Denmark, before joining Cape Town City in January 2017. Ralani was part of Benni McCarthy’s squad that won the 2018 MTN8 and that lost to Mamelodi Sundowns in the final three years later.

He moved to Sundowns in January 2022, and was part of the squad that won the DStv Premiership title that season, and repeated the trick the following campaign. But Ralani never quite broke through as a regular at Masandawana, and ended up moving on when his 18-month contract expired.
