Sundowns fan becomes social media ‘celebrity’
Mamelodi Sundowns fan David ‘Mdeva’ Mashigo was caught by television cameras in January during a game that the Brazilians lost 3-1 to Orlando Pirates.

In the picture, Mdeva looks hopeless as the game goes into injury time with his side trailing Bucs by two goals.
Mashigo’s picture has been doing the rounds on social media ever since.
“It was late in the game and I just accepted that we were losing. A few days later, I would get calls from friends to tell me that I was trending,” Mashigo told SowetanLive.
Meanwhile, Mdeva has explained how he started painting his face.
“Some guys were painting themselves and I asked if they could do the same to my whole body. Ever since that game in Atteridgeville, I never looked back,” he said.
The 35-year-old father of three boys, makes a living transporting pupils and works at a family-owned tavern in Mamelodi.
