Title is out of Pirates’ hands
Orlando Pirates' Absa Premiership title hopes might have slipped away following their 2-2 draw with Cape Town City at the Athlone last Saturday.

The draw sees the Buccaneers still on top on 54 points after 29 games, one point ahead of Mamelodi Sundowns who have a game in hand.
Pirates started on the wrong foot, conceding the first goal as early as the first minute when Zukile Kewuti netted for Cape City. But Bucs hit back with goals by Thembinkosi Lorch and Luvuyo Memela, before City’s Craig Martin equalised.
“We risked everything, but unfortunately we didn’t get what we wanted. It is an expensive lesson we have learnt,”Orlando Pirates coach Micho Sredojevic told SuperSport TV after the game.
“The guys gave everything, but our best was not enough to win the match.”
With winning the title now totally out of Pirates’ hands, midfielder Ben Motshwari believes it’s not over yet and said they will be focusing on their last league game of the season when they welcome Polokwane City to the Orlando Stadium on May 11.
“It was a very difficult game, but we started badly and conceded a simple goal at the end which we should have not conceded. But overall, I’m happy with the way we came back into the game. Now we just have to focus on Polokwane City next weekend,” said Motshwari, who got the Man-of-the-Match accolade.
“It’s not over yet, and I just want to thank the supporters for packing out the stadium. They are always supporting us and I just want to say we are grateful as players of Orlando Pirates. I want to encourage them to come and support us again on May 11 against Polokwane City.”
