Deano van Rooyen might have been let go by Orlando Pirates, but he is not short of admirers as he looks to get his career back on track.
A few Betway Premiership teams have shown interest in the right-back, including his former club Stellenbosch FC, after he parted ways with the Buccaneers.
Van Rooyen joined Pirates in 2024 and initially did well, but he did not get as much game time last season during their title-winning campaign.
Kamogelo Sebelebele has made the full-back position his own, which has led the 29-year-old to seek more regular playing time elsewhere.
A lot has been made of Van Rooyen reportedly following Kaizer Chiefs on Instagram and subsequently unfollowing Pirates, but it is not yet clear whether Amakhosi are interested in signing him.
“He’s looking at a few offers because what he wants is to play more,” a source close to the player said.
“He left Pirates on good terms and he’s not bitter about his experience there. He just wants to play regularly because there was a point where he was considered for Bafana Bafana before he lost his place in the Pirates team.”
Although the source remained tight-lipped about Van Rooyen’s next destination, Stellies are one of the clubs considering the possibility of re-signing him.
