We all knew Sundowns would win the league – Larsen

Golden Arrows coach Clinton Larsen says Mamelodi Sundowns are manifesting what most coaches predicted at the start of the season.

Larsen says he, together with a majority of his coaching counterparts, tipped the Brazilians to walk away with league honors.

Downs have not won it yet, but Larsen reckons that with six points clear off second-placed Orlando Pirates, Masandawana have one hand on the trophy with three games to go.

“The title is in their hands, they are sitting in pole position and it is for them to lose it,” said Larsen.

“Every coach was asked at the beginning of the season who they thought would win it and when you look at the Sundowns squad, 90% of the coaches in the league said Sundowns and I don’t think it is a surprise that they are in the lead with three games to go.

“I think the quality that they have been showing and the results of late, it is just a formality that they will win the championship,” he added.

The Abafana Bes’thende mentor is a self-proclaimed fan of Pitso Mosimane’s team: “I am a fan of too many players in that team. I think Themba Zwane is different class, Gaston Sirino in the last two months had found his feet and he is a revelation. We can also speak about Khama Billiat but Percy Tau is playing on a different level altogether with lots of confidence,” said Larsen.
