Wits and Highlands lead race for ex-Pirates defender

Bidvest Wits and Highlands Park are said to be leading the race for the signature of former Orlando Pirates defender Thabo Matlaba.
Matlaba is currently a free agent after parting ways with Pirates last week.
Maritzburg United and Black Leopards are also believed to be interested in the versatile player, but Matlaba is said to have preferred to remain in Gauteng.
Matlaba’s agent Abbie Rasimpi said he was hopeful that a deal would be struck next week.
“Look, we are talking with a number of clubs who are interested in Thabo and a deal will be concluded soon,” Rasimpi told the Sunday World.
“I am hopeful that we will have something next week. At the end of the day it’s up to Thabo to decide, so you will be the first to know.”
