4 things that happened since Wenger took over at Arsenal

Wenger has been in charge of Arsenal for 22 years.

  1. South Africa hosting the 2010 World Cup

The World Cup was hosted on the African soil for the first time during Arsene Wenger’s time at the club. With South Africa having hosted the World Cup, Morocco was inspired to bid for the global show piece. The Moroccan are bidding for the 2026 World Cup.

  1. Marcus Rashford

Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford was not born when Wenger joined the Gunners. The young player has since won the Europa league with the Red Devils.

  1. Zidane coaching Real Madrid

Zinedine Zidane retired and became the coach of Real Madrid in the time that Wenger has been at Arsenal. The former French midfielder has since gone on to win four trophies in one season, including the Uefa Champions League, a trophy that has eluded Wenger in 22 years as a Gunner manager.

  1. South African national team Bafana Bafana

Bafana Bafana has made 21 coaching changes during Wenger’s tenure at Arsenal. South Africa also won the Africa Cup of Nations trophy in 1996, the same year that Wenger joined the Gunners.
