February Fantasy Football Final Stretch
Gameweek 28 in the Fantasy Premier League represents the final set of matches in February in the English Premier League, and as such the last chance for participants in this month’s Phakaaathi Private Fantasy League to finish top of the standings for the shortest month of the year, and take home a Qatar 3-piece lounge suite valued at R9999.
The games take place today and tomorrow, with a deadline of 8.45pm SA time this evening to make any changes to your team. Currently leading the way for the month is Ebrahim Yusuf and Eggplant Emoji, who netted 57 points in a low-scoring Gameweek 27, where four EPL – Chelsea, Manchester City, Brighton and Everton – were not involved in EPL action. Eggplant Emoji racked up these points despite having two players in their team – Richarlison and Sergio Aguero – who did not feature. A strong defence boosted Eggplant Emoji, with Allison and Andy Robertson of Liverpool and Luke Shaw of Manchester United all featuring in the goalless draw at Old Trafford on Sunday. Yusuf’s side also had a couple of goalscorers from the weekend’s games, in Arsenal’s Alexandre Lacazette and Wolves’ Raul Jimenez. Just six points behind Eggplant Emoji in the February standings are Lloyd Pillay and Sharp Shooterz and Ebrahim Essay and Essay’s 11. Sharp Shooterz, who got 54 points for the week, did brilliantly to include Watford’s Gerald Deulofeu (below) in their team, as he scored 23 points on his own after a hat-trick in the 5-1 win at Cardiff. Sharp Shooterz also used Gameweek 27 to play their Free Hit chip. Essay’s 11 got 56 points for Gameweek 27 simply through a solid effort overall, with West Ham’s Michail Antoni, Arsenal’s Sead Kolasinac and United’s David de Gea all picking up decent points, along with Robertson, Jimenez and Lacazette, which meant that captaining Son Heung-min in a rare off week did not affect the team too badly.
