A Mexican defender broke his leg when he tried to prevent a striker from getting into his side’s penalty box.
Luis Martinez went to challenge forward Jonathan Rodriguez when his right leg landed in an unnatural angle on the turf causing it to twist and break.
Rodriguez manages to evade the injured Martinez who stays down clutching his leg in pain before the medical team came to his aid outside his penalty area.
The South American ‘Clausura’ tournament match between Martinez’s Tigres UANL and Santos Laguna ended in a goalless draw.
