WATCH: Player sent off for accidentally knocking off referee’s card

A Lyon defender was sent for an early shower after he mistakenly knock off the referee's yellow card.

Marcelo was booked for a tackle on an opponent, while protesting the yellow card, he accidentally knocked the card out of the referee’s hand.

This was seen as retaliation by the referee who reach to his back pocket for the red card.

The 30-year-old defender tried to explain to the official Mikael Lesage, however, the red card stood and he had to leave.

The Brazilian’s departure saw Lyon failing to keep their 3-1 lead to finish the game at 3-3 against Angers.
