Robber surprised by SAPS

Suspect hides inside shop.

Three businesses in Second Street, Springs central business district were targeted by two robbers early on Monday morning.

When business owner Tinus Enslin got to work at 7.45am, he noticed a security vehicle in front of his shop, but took no notice.

He went upstairs to work in his office, when he noticed his drawers were scratched in.

It was only a couple of minutes later that he noticed the hole in the ceiling and realised his business had been the target of robbers.

He looked at the roof and saw the roof tiles at the back of the building were lifted and one zink sheet at his side of the building.

On the roof he saw a black bag and other stolen goods.

It was when he went to his neighbouring business that he saw the police were already on the scene.

It is believed one of the policewomen on the scene climbed onto a chair to take a sample of the blood on the wall when someone jumped off the cement slab next to where she was standing.

The suspect didn’t get away, as the Springs police outside the business caught him.

A witness says she has seen the suspect several times before and has often talked to him.

Spokesman for the Spring police Captain Johannes Ramphora says the police are currently investigating the case to see if the suspect is linked to other business robberies.

The suspect was taken to the Springs cells in a police vehicle.

It is not sure when he will appear in court.
