Geduld brothers rebuilt Caddy into masterpiece
Proud product of the Singh brothers from Geduld.
An extraordinary car with modern entertainment is exactly what Vinesh Singh had in mind when he bought the VW caddy four years ago.
Soon the 1987 model was changed from an ugly old Caddy into a modern turbo car.
The challenge started when Vinesh (34) and his brother Ravindraa Singh (21) stripped all the parts and the engine of the Caddy, piece by piece.
Only the body of the vehicle was left after they were done.
Both Vinesh and his brother work full-time and could only work on the Caddy in their spare time.
But this wasn’t a problem at all, as both men grew up in a spray painting and motor mechanic environment.
Their father Barath Singh (67) worked from home all his life and this is where Vinesh and Ravindraa’s love for motor cars developed.
Barath says Vinesh was five years old when he took his mother’s nail polish and repainted some of his toy cars.
As the years went by they sprayed the Caddy and changed it into a masterpiece.
They worked on the interior until they felt it was done to perfection.
“Everything was falling into place and we reached the point where we could put back the engine in 2015,” says Vinesh.
They took the finished product, a 2-litre 8V turbo VW Caddy, to the Vdub Camp Fest in 2015.
Vinesh says this is a VW camp festival and it felt good to show off their rebuilt Caddy, with the nickname of Strawberries and Cream.
The Caddy is the second vehicle overhauled completely by the two Singh brothers.
Twelve years ago they rebuilt a VW Golf.
“Both vehicles were built by my brothers but driven by me,” says Reshma Singh, their sister.
