Primary schools winners of Tekkie Tax colouring competition receice their prizes

Three primary school learners were surprised to win prizes in the competition.

Vita Nova Centre announced the winners of their Tekkie Tax Colouring competition on Thursday.

The centre recently approached several schools to participate in this competition.

Centre director, Marina Potgieter, says the children had to colour in the Tekkie Tax mascot, ‘Happy’.

The winners were from Strubenvale Primary School and Selpark Primary school.

Lithalethu Bonya (5) from Strubenvale Primary School won first prize in the five to six-year age group category.

Potgieter says the prize was too big and Bonya’s teacher, Patience Nkosi, was happy to hold the first prize and pose in the picture with the learner.

Selpark Primary School learner, Lindokuhle Mbonani (9), won the prize in the nine to 10-year age group category, while Nqobile Ndaba (7) won the prize in the seven to eight-year category.

Their principal, Eloise Theron, congratulated the two learners on their win.

“These two schools immediately made use of the opportunity – before I knew it, my table was full of pictures of ‘Happy’,” says Potgieter.

At R10 for a sticker and entry fee, their contribution towards the event was impressive.

“I was overwhelmed at how disciplined these learners are,” says Potgieter.

The learners were not informed who had won the competition until Potgieter arrived at the schools on Thursday.

She says the winners were surprised.

“We plan to make this an annual event and may add something to the competition to get the teachers involved too,” she says.

Vita Nova management would like to thank the schools for their involvement not only in the competition, but in the centre’s annual fun day as well.

“We would like to see even more schools participating in this fundraising event,” says Potgieter.
