SAPS nab three for copper cable theft
The Springs SAPS arrested three men on the N12 near Springs for tampering with essential infrastructure and theft, recovering stolen copper cable valued at about R200 000.
The Springs SAPS arrested three men for tampering with essential infrastructure and theft on Tuesday morning.
According to Sergeant Themba Tshabalala, the Springs SAPS communications officer, the Vispol team was patrolling along the N12 near Springs when they stopped a suspicious-looking white Toyota.
“During their investigation, they discovered copper cable valued at about R200 000, which was identified as belonging to Transnet,” said Tshabalala.
Springs SAPS station commander Brigadier Raymond Buthelezi commended the team for their vigilant patrols and successful interventions.
The three men will soon appear in the Springs Magistrate’s Court.
