12 arrested after stolen factory goods recovered in Nuffield crackdown

Twelve suspects were arrested in Nuffield after police recovered stolen industrial goods linked to a factory theft.

A joint week-long operation by Springs SAPS, Safer City Control, and Blue Hawk Tactical led to the arrest of 12 suspects and the recovery of a large quantity of stolen property linked to a factory theft in Nuffield.

The operation kicked off on July 13 with a raid that uncovered an electric motor, two wheely bins filled with copper wire, as well as chairs, tools, and various fasteners. All recovered goods were returned to the factory owner.

On July 14, five suspects were arrested and brought in for interrogation. Police also seized a red Opel bakkie believed to have been used in the commission of the crime, along with additional equipment.

Three more suspects were arrested on July 15. Police confiscated three sacks containing copper cable and waste material—items commonly targeted for resale.

The fourth day of the operation saw another four arrests. Among the items recovered were five fire extinguishers reportedly stolen from the same factory.

The operation concluded on July 17 with the recovery of another wheely bin packed with nuts, bolts, plates, and pipes.

The Blue Hawk Tactical area manager praised the coordinated effort, stating that the recovery of stolen goods and multiple arrests highlighted the impact of targeted, intelligence-led operations.

He said the crackdown had significantly disrupted criminal activity involving industrial theft in the Nuffield area.
