Bakerton Primary School learners filled the streets with colour during the annual Walk to Read event on September 6.
The event is a vibrant initiative aimed at raising awareness about the importance of reading among learners and to encourage them to read more.
This year’s theme is Afrikaans literature and the learners were dressed as beloved book characters to celebrate local stories and authors.
English teacher, Zakkiyyah Matwadia said, “The walk was well supported by the parents and community at large. We also passed the another school and the learners got to see the different costumes and posters.”
She thanked all the sponsors who contributed to the event’s success.
