Speaking to the Springs Advertiser at the club, STBC chairperson Tokkie Hattingh expressed excitement for the upcoming finals. She also said she was pleasantly surprised by the number of clubs that voluntarily signed up for this year’s trips.

“People called me before I even had a chance to announce this fever; they wanted to join and be part of it. I was happy to see the interest,” said Hattingh.

Hattingh also noted that the club will be attending the finals with one member missing, Cliff Reynolds, who passed away on September 28 after suffering a heart attack while playing on the greens just days before.

“We were truly saddened by his passing, and going into the finals, we will play in his memory as a club. Despite everything, we have to play and keep our spirits high,” she said.

Juan Greyling from the Totters Social Club told the publication that bowls is one of the sports the club enjoys playing. Totters is a social club from Springs that participates in various activities, including fishing and golf.

He jokingly added, “We come to bowls to beat these old ladies and gentlemen and also to have fun as club members.”
