Springs author shares her journey of faith in new book

Heather Colby’s upcoming book 'Child-Like Faith' reflects on a life shaped by trust in God, perseverance and His faithfulness through life’s challenges.

Heather Colby’s story is one of faith, perseverance and admirable strength, true to the title of her upcoming book, Child-Like Faith, which will be launched on March 7 at the Hideout Cafe.

The 72-year-old worked as a teacher at Selpark Primary School from 1993 to 2003, and at Pinegrove Primary School for five years.

Colby says the beginning of her faith journey was the moment when a colleague invited her to church, an invitation that marked a turning point in her life.

“The pastor invited me on a 10-day mission trip to Malawi. Three months later, I went back with no plan and no money, but I knew God was doing something different in my life. My story is about God’s provision,” she explained.

Speaking to the Springs Advertiser, Colby said her life has been a testimony of trusting in God. Her book references examples of how her faith kept her grounded during unexpected turmoil, including a serious car accident involving her eldest daughter and her family.

The book details her journey in Malawi, the people who shaped her life, the impact of the accident and God’s faithfulness through it all. Colby also reflected on what child-like faith means to her.

“To have child-like faith is not to rely on our own strength but to patiently wait for supernatural intervention. In 2004, someone told me I would one day write a book. Writing it was one thing, but publishing it was another. I had to wait patiently for the funding.

“I am excited to officially launch it,” she said.
