Unbearable stink

I would like to bring under your attention the mess we have to live in. We have been keeping quiet about this for a long time, but now that the summer is here, the stink is unbearable.

I take my hat off to the child care facility for dedicating themselves to helping other people, especially children.

There is just one thing that we wish that they would do something about and that is their rubbish they throw away every week. Most off the time it is rotten vegetables and eggs that cannot be given to anyone anymore, but this stuff gets thrown in front of their property and it stands there and rots even more until the municipality comes on Mondays to collect waste.

The smell that comes from this is unbearable and some of the people can’t even open their doors or windows at the front of their houses because this smell invests your home and make it smell like a dump. I’m sure this is not very healthy as well. This waste attracts flies, bugs and worms.

The animals passing tear the bags, the homeless people take what they want and leave even more of a mess. Our children have to walk pass this mess every day on their way to school. It surely doesn’t create a very good image for our area, and it is really not good for our environment.

Is there nothing we could do to stop this kind of mess?

An Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality official visited the child care facility in Geduld on Tuesday and could not found any refuse lying on the pavement. Refuse was collected on Monday as per the refuse removal calendar.

The official also indicated to the person in charge that it is an offence to put out refuse on any other day than the day of collection. Refuse should be kept on the premise until the day of collection. The person in charge was also provided with a refuse calendar.
