Cyclist struck by bakkie in Meyerton, left critical

A man in his 30s was left critically injured Saturday night when he was knocked off his bicycle by a bakkie on Jan Neethling Street in Meyerton.

According to ER24, paramedics arrived on the scene at 18h55 to find a man in his 30s lying on the pavement. The bakkie that had struck him was parked further down the road.
Medics assessed the man and found that he had sustained numerous injuries and was in a critical condition.

The man was treated and provided with advanced life support interventions before he was transported to Sebokeng Provincial Hospital for further care.
The driver of the bakkie escaped injury.

In a separate accident, a man in his 50s was left critically injured on Saturday afternoon when a bakkie struck him on Westrup Street in Vanderbijlpark.


ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene at 16h30 to find the man lying in the middle of the road. The bakkie was located some distance away.
Medics assessed the man and found that he had sustained numerous injuries and was in a critical condition.
The man was treated for his injuries and provided with advanced life support interventions before he was transported to Sebokeng Provincial Hospital for further care.
Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
