Man arrested for possession of suspected stolen vehicle in Vereeniging

Sedibeng District Commissioner Major General Zodwa Molefe has congratulated members of the Vereeniging SAPS on a job well done.

VEREENIGING. – This after members who were on patrol this afternoon arrested a 40-year-old man for possession of suspected stolen property.

Police spokesperson Captain Fikile Funda says,  “Members were on patrol in the CBD when they were alerted of a suspicious motor vehicle.

“They then saw a silver VW Polo that fits the description. They tried to stop the vehicle, but the driver bumped the marked police car with the intent to flee, but was cornered.”

Funda states that the car was searched and a car jammer and ghost remote control were found.

“It was further discovered that the car has been fitted with a false Free state registration number on top of the original Gauteng registration number.”

The car was impounded for further investigation.

Police have launched a case docket for reckless and negligent driving, possession of suspected stolen property and possession of car jamming devices.
