Election 2024: Physically handicapped flock to voting stations

Voters showed up in large numbers at the voting station at Hoërskool Drie Riviere in Emfuleni Local Municipality Ward 1 on Wednesday (29 May) – even the physically handicapped.

VEREENIGING. – Even the physically handicapped and those confined to wheelchairs and making use of walking aids such as canes and zimmer frames showed up in large numbers to cast their vote in South Africa’s seventh general election.

Voting stations opened at 07:00 and will close at 21:00 tonight.

Over 27 million South Africans are registered to vote at more that 23 000 polling stations across the country.

The IEC expects to release election results by Sunday.
