Multiple crashes reported on N12 and near Rietspruit as heavy fog reduces visibility
Motorists are urged to avoid the affected areas if possible and expect delays.
Motorists travelling on the N12 between Ogies and the R555 off-ramp are urged to exercise extreme caution after a multi-vehicle pile-up was reported amid heavy fog that has significantly reduced visibility.
According to Felims Recovery & Rescue, multiple vehicles have been involved in the collision. Emergency services are on the scene responding to the incident.
In a separate incident, Road Angels SA reports that there is also a serious crash just past the Rietspruit T-junction on the main road linking Ga-Nala, Ogies and Bethal.
The organisation said the fog is extremely dense, with visibility so poor that motorists only notice the accident when they are almost at the scene.
The full extent of both crashes, including the number of vehicles involved and whether there are any injuries or fatalities has not yet been confirmed.
