Two businesses in Klarinet were robbed just an hour apart from each other.
Two shop owners awoke to the sound of their businesses being robbed on July 22.
The first robbery occurred at 02:00 at stand 1866 in Extension 3, Klarinet. According to the complainants statement to police he was asleep in the room next to his shop when his business was forcefully broken into.
The man was told not to move as two men entered the room, one of them held him at gunpoint while the other forced one of the doors to the business open, they then looted the shop of R21 000 worth of goods which included cigarettes, airtime and cellular phones.
That very same evening and just an hour later Mr Delelegin Tafetse was awoken by the sound of his home and business being broken into.
“I was sleeping in the room next door when they broke in,” said Tafetse
Tafetse reported that he heard a noise coming from the wall next to his shop and woke up, a number of suspects were in his business. One of them was armed with a firearm and held him and his brother at gunpoint while the other suspects looted the store.
Sundry goods worth R19 000 was stolen.
“We advise business owners to bank their money, at different times, at the bank. This will help reduce the risk of their businesses being robbed,” said Sgt David Ratau, Witbank Police spokesperson.
He continued to say that shop owners in the area should not keep their businesses open till late in the evening as this also poses a risk.
